Zachary Gilbert is the new Allen Library Technical Services Coordinator performing cataloging and processing functions for music and dance materials, and overseeing student employees who assist, and contribute to other Allen services and projects. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, and Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Hartford’s The Hartt School. He also was an Allen Library student employee in both public and technical services. He is also a cantor/tenor section leader (gallery and bass clef choir) at St. Patrick St. Anthony Church, Hartford, Conn., and is a section leader at Chorus Angelicus & Gaudeamus, Torrington Conn.
Thank you to Bob Antaramian for 14 years of service to the Mortensen Library ‘s Circulation Department. Antaramian retired in August and was the evening supervisor on the Tuesday and Thursday shifts with rotating weekends.
Reference Librarian Kyle Lynes helped lead a half-day workshop at the Connecticut Library Association’s Technical Services Section fall program. This event addressed weeding and collection development theory, applied to a variety of library types. It also included an interactive group activity for hands-on training.
Reference Librarian Jillian Maynard traveled to Fitchburg State University last summer for the annual New England Library Instruction Group Conference. There she participated in a panel discussion on renovating academic libraries and gave a short presentation on the transformation of the Harrison Libraries.
Archivist Sean Parke recently became a member of The Hartt School’s Alumni Committee.
In August, Lauren Perala resigned from her position as the Allen Library’s Technical Services Coordinator. She relocated to Columbia, Missouri, with her husband Kyle, who took a position as the conductor of University Orchestras for Missouri University of Science and Technology.
