Just past the Circulation Desk and Starbucks on the main floor of the Harrison Libraries, you will find Mortensen’s Reference Desk, which is always staffed with a professional librarian during operating hours.
All your research needs including Hawkcash, printing, IT Help, scanning, and photocopying are within steps of the reference desk. In addition, the Reference librarians are now located in the offices directly behind the Reference desk in L-216, and are available to answer all questions, simple and complex—silly and heady.
The Reference librarians visit classes or, have classes come to them in either the newly renovated Woods Family Classroom or in the KF Room. They teach graduates, undergraduates, and even some local high school students the finer points of locating relevant materials in the library and online. Projects have been built into the writing and academic strategies courses where students are learning hands-on how to follow the research process from topic to endnotes. And whenever you see them, reference librarians impart the tricks and strategies to help fulfill the requirements of the rigorous programs offered at the University of Hartford.
